Abstract
Rogač (Ceratonia siliqua L.) je zimzeleno stablo iz porodice mahunarki široko rasprostranjeno na području sredozemnog pojasa. Cilj ovog rada bio je analizirati antioksidativni potencijal lišća rogača sakupljenog na nekoliko lokacija diljem Dalmatinske obale i otoka, obzirom na lokalitet i spol biljke. U metanolnim ekstraktima lista provedena je analiza antioksidacijske učinkovitosti Folin-Ciocalteu, DPPH, TEAC i FRAP metodom. Dobiveni rezultati pokazuju da se uzorci prikupljeni s raličitih lokacija Jadranske obale i otoka značajno međusobno razlikuju po udjelu ukupnih fenola i antioksidacijskoj učinkovitosti. Udio polifenola se kreće u rasponu od 12,70 ± 1,85 mg/g GAE do 57,27 ± 3,32 mg/g GAE. Udio polifenola i antioksidacijski potencijal bili su veći u listovima sa biljaka muškog spola. Statističkom analizom utvrđena je značajna korelacija između udjela ukupnih fenola i svih tipova antioksidacijskog potencijala. Najznačajniji stupanj korelacije utvrđen je sa TEAC, odnosno DPPH metodom što ukazuje na činjenicu da polifenoli lista rogača svoj antioksidacijski učinak ostvaruju primarno hvatanjem radikala.

Carob (Ceratonia siliqua L) is an evergreen three in the legumes family that is well spread throughout the Mediterranean belt. The objective of this study was to analyze the antioxidant potential of carob leaves collected at several locations around the Dalmatian coast and islands in relation to location and plant gender. Antioxidant activity of methanolic leaf extracts were analyzed by Folin-Ciocalteu, DPPH, TEAC and FRAP methods. Obtained results showed significant differences in poliphenolic content and antioxidant activity of analyzed samples considering location an gender of the plant. The determined phenolic content ranged from 12.70 ± 1.85 mg / g of GAE up to 57.27 ± 3.32 mg / g GAE. Samples collected in locations in the north showed significantly lower polyphenolic content and antioxidant activity in comparisson to samples colleted in southern regions. Also, generally, leaves collected from male plants had higher concentrations of polyphenols and higher antiocxidant activity. Statistical analysis found a significant correlation between the proportion of total phenols and all types of analyzed antioxidant activity. However, higher correlation coeficients obtained for TEAC and DPPH method indicate that antioxidants from carob leaves act primarly as free radical scavengers.
