Abstract

Cilj istraživanja bio je ustanoviti utjecaj epidemije COVID-19 na različite aspekte rada u javnim ljekarnama. Provedeno je istraživanje u koje su uključeni magistri farmacije iz javnih ljekarni diljem Republike Hrvatske. Podatci su prikupljani putem online upitnika u razdoblju od 6 tjedana u 2020. godini. Upitnik sadrži 66 pitanja podijeljenih u šest cjelina. Ovo je prvo istraživanje koje obuhvaća i istražuje više dimenzija organizacije i rada u javnim ljekarnama tijekom epidemije COVID-19. U svrhu analize prikupljenih podataka korištene su metode deskriptivne statistike. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 328 ispitanika (90,5% žena). Prosječna starost ispitanika bila je 38,57 godina (±10,180), a prosječna vrijednost radnog iskustva ispitanika bila je 13,74 godina (±10,115). Identificirane su nove uloge ljekarnika koje su se razvile tijekom epidemije COVID-19, a to su: pružanje usluga online savjetovanja, dostava lijekova u kućanstva i dodatna proizvodnja sredstava za dezinfekciju ruku u samim ljekarnama. Više od 70% ispitanika pružalo je savjetovanja o zaštiti od zaraze COVID-19. Ukupno 91,2% ispitanika u većem je ili jednakom opsegu nego prije dodatno skretalo pažnju pacijentima i na važnost liječenja ostalih stanja te kroničnih bolesti. Više od 95% ispitanika na radnom je mjestu imalo postavljene pregrade od pleksiglasa te je nosilo zaštitne rukavice i maske za lice. Ukupno 95,1% ispitanika smatra da su informacije plasirane u medijima imale značajan utjecaj na povećanu potražnju lijekova i proizvoda u ljekarni. Ljekarnici su nosili značajan psihološki teret, posebice strah od zaraze i strah za zdravlje svojih bližnjih te su pokazali nezadovoljstvo prepoznavanjem svoje uloge u očima javnosti. Promjene u načinu života i rada imale su negativniji utjecaj na psihičko stanje i raspoloženje ispitanika nego na njihovu produktivnost na radnom mjestu. Unatoč novim izazovima, ljekarnici su preuzeli važnu ulogu u zdravstvenom sustavu kao najdostupniji i izravno izloženi zdravstveni djelatnici. Pokazali su spremnost da brzo i kvalitetno odgovore na okolnosti novonastale krizne situacije, što upućuje na to da bi javni ljekarnici trebali biti više uključeni u upravljanje krizama i iskoristiti svoje kompetencije i znanja. Istraživanje ukazuje na potrebu stručne podrške zdravstvenim djelatnicima tijekom epidemije, kao i potrebu za psihološkom podrškom.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this research was to determine which segments of working in a community pharmacy were affected by the COVID-19 epidemic. The research employing an online survey was conducted on pharmacists working in community pharmacies in the Republic of Croatia throughout a period of 6 weeks during 2020. The survey comprises of 65 questions divided in six separate sections. This is the first study exploring multiple dimensions of community pharmacy organization and working during the COVID-19 epidemic. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics. In total, 328 pharmacists participated in the study (90,5% female). The average age of the participants was 38.57 years (± 10,180) and the average working experience of the participants was 13.74 years (± 10,115). New roles of pharmacists that developed during the COVID-19 epidemic have been identified, namely: online patient counseling, home delivery of medicines and manufacturing hand sanitizers in community pharmacies. More than 70% of the participants provided counseling on protection against COVID-19 infection. A total of 91.2% of the participants drew patients' attention to the importance of treating other conditions and chronic diseases to a greater or an equal extent as before. More than 95% of the participants worked behind plexiglas partitions and wore protective gloves and face masks. In total, 95.1% of the participants believe that the information placed in the media had a significant impact on the increased demand for medicines and products in the pharmacy. Pharmacists have suffered a significant psychological burden, particularly fear of infection and fear for the health of their loved ones and showed dissatisfaction with recognizing their role in the eyes of the public. Changes in the lifestyle and working conditions had a more negative impact on the mental state and mood of the participants than on their productivity in the workplace. Despite the new challenges, community pharmacists have taken on an important role in the healthcare system as the most accessible and directly exposed healthcare professionals. They have shown a willingness to respond quickly and efficiently to the circumstances of the emerging crisis, which suggests that they should be more involved in crisis management and avail their competencies and knowledge. This research indicates the need for professional support to healthcare workers during an epidemic, as well as the need for psychological support.
