Parallel abstract (English) | Hyperlipidemia is one of the most important risk factors for cardiovascular disease, which is the greatest cause of mortality in the world. Statins are the most important group of drugs in the treatment of hyperlipidemia. Because of its effectiveness, they are among the most widely prescribed drugs in the world. The aim of this thesis has been to expand knowledge of the interactions of statins with other drugs, especially those that may have clinical consequences and highlight the opportunities for involvement of pharmacists in avoiding, recognizing and solving therapeutic problems and counseling patients who are taking statins.
In the experimental part of thesis has been analyzed 75 cases of pharmacotherapeutical cases from pharmaceutical practice that were containing statins and it has been shown that the interaction of statins with other drugs in the clinical practice are very common and clinically significant and potentially dangerous. Patients should be informed and instructed about the risk of hyperlipidemia and well-being of an effective treatment, provide them with clear written and oral instructions about treatment, in consultation with a physician adjust the treatment to the patient's lifestyle and needs and also simplify treatment by reducing the number of drugs. All patients that are being administered a statin should be monitored more closely if a new medicine is introduced into the treatment or the dose of the current medication is changing, especially in the case of a drugs which are known risk of entering in interactions. Pharmacist supervision of
therapy, timely interventions and counseling of patients can inhibit the interactions and reduce their adverse consequences. |
