Abstract

Glavni i najistraženiji produkt lipidne peroksidacije je malondialdehid (MDA), čija koncentracija ujedno ukazuje i na
oksidativni stres organizma koji za posljedicu ima prekomjerno nakupljanje toksičnih reaktivnih kisikovih spojeva
(ROS). Enzim katalaza spada u antioksidcijske enzime koji predstavljaju sekundarnu obranu organizma od reaktivnih
kisikovig spojeva (ROS), stoga njegova katalitička aktivnost također ukazuje na stanje oksidativnog sresa. Poznato je
da se vrijednost nekih biokemijskih parametara mijenja ovisno o korištenom uzorku (serum ili plazma) ili korištenom
antikoagulansu u uzorku plazme, stoga je cilj ovog rada bio utvrditi da li je pri mjerenju parametara oksidacijskog
stresa irelevantan odabir uzorka (serum ili plazma) i antikoagulansa, ili postoji li razlika u vrijednostima istih. U ovom
radu mjerene su koncentracije oba parametra u uzorku seruma, EDTA plazme, citratne plazme i heparinske
plazme.Rezultati ispitivanja pokazuju da se koncentracije MDA statistički značajano razlikuju između citratne plazme i
heparinske plazme te između EDTA plazme i citratne plazme. Aktivnost katalaze se statistički značajno razlikuje
između seruma i EDTA plazme. Dobiveni rezultati ukazuju da se izmjerena koncentracija MDA i aktivnost katalaze
razlikuje između različitih vrsta uzoraka te da je usporedba rezultata moguća samo između istih tipova uzoraka.

Abstract (english)

Malondialdehyde is the main and most researched product of lipid peroxydation. Its concentration indicates
oxidative stress in the body that leads to the generation of toxic reactive oxygen species (ROS).Catalase is a very
important enzyme in protecting the cell from oxydative damage by Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), so its level
also indicates oxidative stress.It is well known that some biochemisty parameters have different value depending on
which sample is been used (serum or plasma) or which anticoagulant agent was used to collect the blood samples.
Therefore, the main objective of this work was to establish whether or not there was a difference between the values
od MDA and catalase mesured in different samples ( serum, EDTA plasma, citrate plasma or heparin plasma).The
results show that there is a statistically significant difference of MDA between citrate plasma and heparin plasma,
also in EDTA plasma and citrate plasma. It is also shown that there is a statistically significant difference of catalase
between serum and EDTA plasma. The results indicate that the measured concentration of MDA and catalase
activity varies between different types of samples and that the comparison of the results is possible only between the
same types of samples.
