Abstract

Ovim radom željeli smo istražiti bolesnikovu percepciju lijeka. Pogrešna je pretpostavka da bolesnik, prije
kontakta sa zdravstvenim profesionalcem, nema nikakve stavove o terapiji i lijeku općenito. Brojna istraživanja,
pa tako i naše, su utvrdila da bolesnikovi stavovi i percepcije vrlo često ne korespondiraju sa stvarnim učinkom
lijekova. Bolesnikovi stavovi i percepcije lijeka često puta su u koliziji sa savjetima koje im pruža bilo liječnik,
bilo ljekarnik. U cilju utvrđivanja bolesnikove percepcije lijeka provedeno je anketno istraživanje koje je
sadržavalo 8 pitanja (unutar kojih su se nalazile dodatne tvrdnje) o lijeku, njegovom djelovanju i učinkovitosti,
potrebi za lijekovima ili njihovoj zabrinutosti za nuspojave te pridržavanju propisane terapije. Anketirano je 117
bolesnika na području grada Zagreba koji su podigli jedan ili više lijekova u ljekarni. Naše istraživanje je
pokazalo da ispitanici imaju brojne netočne predodžbe ili percepcije o lijeku. Bolesnici smatraju da je lijek samo
ono što propiše liječnik. Dakle ono što ne propisuje liječnik, odnosno ono što ne ide preko recepta (OTC
preparati, dodaci prehrani i biljni pripravci) ne smatraju lijekovima u užem smislu te riječi. Riječ je o velikoj
zabludi koja je opće raširena među populacijom. Ispitanici nadalje, ponovno pogrešno, smatraju da lijek ima
samo jedan i to pozitivan terapeutski učinak. Ispitanici drugim riječima smatraju da lijek nema dodatni popratni
učinak (nuspojave). Osobito zabrinjava podatak da većina bolesnika, pri prvim znacima ozdravljenja prekida
svoju terapiju. Iz sveg navedenog zaključujemo da ljekarnik treba biti upoznat s bolesnikovom percepcijom
lijeka kako bi uputstva o upotrebi lijeka (doza, interval doziranja, kombinacije sa drugim lijekovima i hranom) i
terapijskom učinku prilagodio svakom bolesniku ponaosob i uskladio s njegovom osobnom percepcijom lijeka.

Abstract (english)

With this paper we wanted to explore the patient's perception of medications. It is a wrong assumption that the
patient, prior to the contact with a health professional, has no views about therapy and medicine in general.
Numerous studies, including ours, are determined that the patient's views and perceptions very often do not
correspond with the actual effect of medication. The patient's views and perceptions of medications are often in
collision with advice provided by a doctor, or a pharmacist. In order to determine the patient's perception of the
medications, we used a questionnaire that contained 8 questions (in which are more claims) about the medicine,
effectiveness and efficiency, the medicinal necessities or their concerns about the side effects and adherence to
the prescribed therapy. 117 patients from Zagreb were questioned, who have pick up one or more medications at
the pharmacy. Our research has shown that respondents have numerous inaccurate perceptions or misperceptions
about the medications. Patients find that medication is only what the doctor prescribes. Medications that are not
prescribed by a doctor, or a medicine that doesn't need a prescription (over-the-counter, dietary supplements and
herbal supplements) are not considered as medicines in the strict sense of the word. It is a great delusion that is
widespread among the population. The respondents further, wrong again, consider that there's only one effect
and that is a positive, therapeutic effect. In other words, respondents considered that the medications have no
additional side effects. Particularly concerning is the fact that the majority of patients, at the first signs of healing
interrupt their therapy. From all the above we conclude that a pharmacist should be aware of patient's perception
of the medication and give them instructions to use the medicinal (dose, dosing interval, combinations with other
drugs or food) and adjust therapeutic effect to each patient individually and coordinate with his personal
perception of the medication.
