Abstract

Glikirani albumin je marker šećerne bolesti koji se smatra drugim izborom nakon glikiranog hemoglobina. Životni vijek glikiranog albumina je 2-4 tjedna pa nam tako pokazuje ranije komplikacije šećerne bolesti. Uz nove, pouzdane analitičke metode detekcije, kao što je enzimatska metoda, glikirani albumin je dobio sve učestaliju primjenu u laboratorijima. HbA1c kao „zlatni standard“ ne može dati pouzdane rezultate u slučajevima anemija, hemoglobinopatija, pacijenata na dijalizi i gestacijskog dijabetesa. Uvođenjem glikiranog albumina kao pretragu izbora za ta patološka stanja, znatno se poboljšala prevencija komplikacija šećernih bolesti u tih pacijenata. Ostali biomarkeri kao što su 1,5-anhidroglucitol, fetuin-A, razne mikroRNA, trigliceridi, lipoproteini i upalni biljezi, isto pridonose razvitku idealne kombinacije biomarkera za otkriće šećerne bolesti u najranijoj fazi. Međutim, potrebna su još daljnja istraživanja da bi se značajno proširio broj pretraga za probir šećerne bolesti.

Abstract (english)

Glycated albumin is a marker of diabetes that is considered the second choice after glycated hemoglobin. The lifespan of glycated albumin is 2-4 weeks, so it shows us the earlier complications of diabetes. With new, reliable analytical detection methods, such as the enzymatic method, glycated albumin has gained increasing use in laboratories. HbA1c as the "gold standard" cannot give reliable results in cases of anemia, hemoglobinopathy, patients at dialysis and gestational diabetes. The introduction of glycated albumin as a choice for these pathological conditions has significantly improved the prevention of complications of diabetes in these patients. Other biomarkers such as 1,5-anhydroglucitol, fetuin-A, various microRNAs, triglycerides, lipoproteins, and inflammatory markers also contribute to the development of an ideal combination of biomarkers for the detection of diabetes at the earliest stage. However, further research is needed to significantly expand the number of diabetes screening tests.
