Abstract

Budući da su toksični metali i metaloidi prisutni u ljudskom okolišu, od velike je važnosti pratiti njihovu razinu i procijeniti izloženost ljudi tim metalima. U ovoj studiji analizirani su uzorci urina sportaša amatera sa područja Zagreba tijekom planinske ultramaratonske utrke duge 3 km i određen je sadržaj detektiranih toksičnih metala i metaloida primjenom T F tehnike, u četiri vremenske točke: neposredno prije (osnovna vrijednost) utrke, neposredno nakon utrke, 12 h nakon utrke te 24 h nakon utrke. U analiziranim uzorcima urina detektirani i određivani su Al, As, Ba, Ni, Pb, Rb, Sr, V i Tl. Svi otkriveni metali pokazali su promjene koncentracija s vremenom, pri čemu je većina pokazala povećanje koncentracije nakon utrke, fenomen koji se može objasniti pojačanom eliminacijom uslijed fizičke aktivnosti. Nadalje, T F tehnika se pokazala kao brza i pouzdana metoda koja prati načela zelene kemije za određivanje toksičnih metala u biološkom uzorku kao što je urin.

Abstract (english)

Since toxic metals and metalloids are ubiquitous in the human environment, it is of great importance to monitor their levels and assess human exposure to them. In this study, urine samples from amateur athletes from the Zagreb region were analyzed during a 53 km ultramarathon race and the levels of detected toxic metals and metalloids were determined using the TXRF technique at four time points: immediately before (baseline), immediately after the race, 12 hours after the race, and 24 hours after the race.
The presence of Al, As, Ba, Ni, Pb, Rb, Sr, V, and Tl was detected and quantified. All detected metals and metalloids showed alterations in time, with most of them showing an increase in concentration after the race, a phenomenon that can be explained by increased excretion due to endurance activity. In addition, the TXRF technique has been shown to be a rapid and reliable method that follows the principles of green chemistry for the determination of toxic metals in a biological sample such as urine.
