Abstract

U okviru ovog diplomskog rada obrađeno je šesnaest smola i balzama iz Farmakognoške zbirke s ciljem dokumentiranja fitokemijskih i etnofarmakoloških podataka o navedenim drogama. Smole i balzami su vrlo kompleksne prirodne tvari koje imaju dugu tradiciju primjene u liječenju. Koristili su se kao antiseptici, protuupalna sredstva, antireumatici, diuretici i purgativi, zatim u liječenju dišnih bolesti, za zacjeljivanje rana te kod kožnih i spolnih bolesti. U Europsku farmakopeji oficinalno je sedam smola i balzama: Balsamum peruvianum, Balsamum tolutanum, Benzoe tonkinensis, Benzoe sumatrans, Colophonium, Myrrha i Olibanum. Zbog svog terapijskog potencijala i danas su česta tema znanstvenih istraživanja.

Abstract (english)

This thesis gathers information about sixteen resins and balsams from the Pharmacognostical collection in order to document phytochemical and ethnopharmacological data about the aforementioned drugs. Resins and balsams are natural substances with a long tradition of medical use. They have been used as antiseptics, antiinflamatory and antirheumatic drugs, diuretics and purgatives. Furthermore, they have been used for healing wounds, treating respiratory and sexually transmitted diseases, as well as various skin disorders. The European Pharmacopoeia mentions the following seven resins and balsams as officinal: Balsamum peruvianum, Balsamum tolutanum, Benzoe tonkinensis, Benzoe sumatrans, Colophonium, Myrrha and Olibanum. Due to their therapeutic potential resins and balsams are often the subject of scientific research nowadays.
