Abstract

Bolesti srca i krvnih žila glavni su uzrok smrti i razlog bolničkog liječenja u Hrvatskoj. Od njih umire skoro svaki drugi stanovnik zemlje. Nebrojene studije pokazale su povezanost trombocita i hiperlipidemije s inicijacijom i komplikacijom aterosklerotičnih lezija, a novije studije ukazale su i na ulogu eritrocita u aterosklerotskom procesu. Cilj ovog rada bio je ispitati povezanost koncentracije lipida u krvi sa svojstvima trombocita i eritrocita te procjeniti jesu li njihove uloge rizičnih čimbenika neovisne. Povezanost je ispitana u skupini ispitanika s esencijalnom hipertenzijom te u heterogenoj skupini slučajno odabranih ispitanika, a nakon čega su uspoređeni nalazi između ovih dviju skupina. U heterogenoj skupini ispitanika pronađena je statistički značajna, ali slaba povezanost između eritrocitnih pokazatelja i lipida. Odnosi se na povezanost RDW-a i LDL-kolesterola, RDW-a i ukupnog kolesterola, MCV-a i LDL-kolesterola te MCV-a i ukupnog kolesterola. U skupini ispitanika s esencijalnom hipertenzijom pronađena je statistički značajna, ali slaba povezanost između eritrocitnih pokazatelja s ukupnim kolesterolom. Nismo pronašli povezanost između trombocitnih pokazatelja i lipidnih parametara ni u jednoj od skupina. Nadalje, nije pronađena statistički značajna razlika usporedbom hematoloških i lipidnih parametara između ispitivanih skupina ispitanika. U ispitanika s esencijalnom hipertenzijom pronađena je dobra i statistički značajna pozitivna korelacija između životne dobi i lipida (ukupni kolesterol, LDL-kolesterol, trigliceridi) koja upućuje da su lipidi značajan i neovisan čimbenik rizika u tih bolesnika te da porast životne dobi praćen hipertenzijom pridonosi kardiovaskularnom riziku.

Abstract (english)

Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death and the reason for hospital treatment in Croatia. Nearly every second resident of the country dies because of these diseases. Numerous studies have shown the association between platelets and hyperlipidemia with initiation and complication of atherosclerotic lesions and recent studies have also shown the role of erythrocytes in the atherosclerotic process. The aim of this study was to examine the correlation between blood lipid levels with platelet and erythrocyte indices and to assess whether their roles of risk factors are independent. The correlation was tested in the group of patients with essential hypertension and in the heterogeneous group of randomly selected patients. Thereafter, findings between these two groups were compared. In the heterogeneous group of patients, statistically significant, but poor correlation between erythrocyte indices and lipids was found. It refers to the association of RDW and LDL-cholesterol, RDW and total cholesterol, MCV and LDL-cholesterol, and MCV and total cholesterol. In the group of patients with essential hypertension, statistically significant, but poor correlation between erythrocyte indices and total cholesterol was found. We haven't found correlation between platelet indices and lipid parameters in any of the groups. Furthermore, no statistically significant difference was found by comparing hematologic and lipid parameters between the examined groups. In patients with essential hypertension, good and statistically significant positive correlation between age and lipids (total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglycerides) was found. This suggests that lipids are significant and independent risk factor in these patients and that increase in age in patients with hypertension contributes to the cardiovascular risk.
