Abstract

Cilj istraživanja: Cilj ovog rada je pregledno prikazati glavne specifičnosti primjene antipsihotika u žena i osvrnuti se na važnost uloge koju ljekarnici mogu imati u njihovom prepoznavanju i zbrinjavanju.
Ispitanici i metode: U tu svrhu pretraţena je znanstvena i stručna literatura, relevantni psihijatrijski dijagnostički priručnici i trenutno važeće terapijske smjernice, publikacije stručnih udruga i institucija, baza lijekova Agencije za lijekove i medicinske proizvode te drugi raspoloživi izvori.
Rezultati: Identificirane su glavne spolne razlike u nastupu, razvoju, prevalenciji i tijeku bolesti te liječenju antipsihoticima, analiziran je antidopaminski efekt estrogena, istražena je uloga prolaktina i hiperprolaktinemija kao nuspojava liječenja antipsihoticima.
Zaključak: Specifičnosti primjene antipsihotika u ţena i spolne razlike u liječenju antipsihoticima potrebno je poznavati, prepoznati i pravovremeno prilagoditi terapiju kako bi pacijenti postigli terapijski cilj. Ljekarnici kao poveznica između bolesnika, lijeka i liječnika, potencijalno mogu doprinijeti lakšem identificiranju problema i razloga neuspješne terapije u svakodnevnom radu s bolesnicima, pravovremenim upućivanjem specijalistu, te time sveukupno boljem ishodu liječenja kao i u individualizaciji terapije. Prisutna je potreba za većim sudjelovanjem ljekarnika u skrbi za bolesnike na terapiji

Abstract (english)

The goal of this research: The goal of this thesis is to present the main aspects of antipsychotic drugs treatment of women, as well as to evaluate the role the pharmacists have in the therapy.
Research methods: A variety of scientific and professional literature, relevant psychiatric diagnosis manuals, publications by the professional associations and institutions, the Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices database, as well as some other available sources were examined.
Results: The main differences between genders in terms of the disease onset, development, prevalence, its course and the antipsychotic treatment were identified. The antidopamine effect of estrogen and the role of prolactin was analyzed. Hyperprolactinemia as a side-effect of antipsychotic drugs treatment was also investigated.
Conclusion: It is important to recognize the difference in antipsychotic treatment of women and men to timely modify the therapy and achieve its goal. The pharmacists act as a bond between the patients, the therapy and the doctors and therefore can identify the reasons for unsuccessful therapy, refer patients to the specialist, achieving better outcome of treatment as well as help individualize the therapy. Evidently the pharmacists need to be included more in the treatment of mental illnesses.
