Abstract | U ovom je diplomskom radu provedena kvalitativna i kvantitativna analiza polifenola i trjeslovina u listovima lovora vrste Laurus nobilis L. (Lauraceae) s područja Dalmacije (populacije: Brač, Konavle, Korčula, Lastovo, Mljet, Pelješac i Šipan).
Abstract (english) | In this graduate thesis, a qualitative and quantitative analysis of polyphenols and tannins in leaves of Laurus nobilis L. (Lauraceae) from the region of Dalmatia (populations: Brač, Konavle, Korčula, Lastovo, Mljet, Pelješac, Šipan) was carried out. Qualitative analysis was carried out with general reactions of the formation of colored products and/or precipitates, while quantitative analysis of total polyphenols and tannins was performed by a spectrophotometric method with the Folin-Ciocalteu’s phenol reagent. The highest content of total polyphenols was in the sample from the island of Lastovo: 9.53% (720 nm) and 9.77% (760 nm), while the smallest amount of polyphenols was determined in the sample from the island of Brač and it was 5.92% (720 nm) and 5.15% (760 nm). The highest content of tannins was recorded for the Lastovo population: 4.71% (720 nm) and 4.81% (760 nm), while the smallest amount was determined in the sample from Konavle: 2.33% (720 nm) and 2.37% (760 nm). This phytochemical characterization contributes to the scientific research of the Laurus genus, contributes to the scientific knowledge of Croatian laurel populations with regard to the content of polyphenolic biologically active substances and completes the current understanding of the phytotherapeutic potential of Laurus nobilis L. |
