Abstract

Vrste roda Globularia pripadaju porodici Plantaginaceae. Rasprostranjene su u mediteranskom području, od kuda se šire prema sjevernoj Europi i sjeveroistočnoj Africi. Globularia alypum jedna je od najčešće primjenjivanih biljaka u narodnoj medicini država Sjeverne Afrike. Listovi te biljke često se koriste kao hipoglikemik, laksativ, diuretik, purgativ, za smirenje želučanih tegoba te u liječenju hemoroida i kardiovaskularnih bolesti. Danas se najviše istražuje njihovo protuupalno i antioksidativno djelovanje. Najvažnije tvari koje su odgovorne za djelovanje su polifenoli, flavonoidi i iridoidi. U ovom radu istražen je sadržaj ukupnih fenola i flavonoida metanolnih ekstrakata listova vrsta G. alypum, G. cordifolia, G. meridionalis i G. punctata čiji materijal je sakupljen u tri različite sezone (2014., 2015. i 2016.) s različitih lokacija na kojima su ove vrste prirodno prisutne. Metoda koja je korištena za pripremu ekstrakata bila je ultrazvučna ekstrakcija. Iznos ukupnih fenola kretao se između 15,14 ± 1,45 mg ekvivalenta galne kiseline/g suhog biljnog materijala u uzorku G. meridionalis iz područja Male Učke i 40,95 ± 0,49 mg ekvivalenta galne kiseline/g suhog biljnog materijala u uzorku G. alypum iz područja Konavoske stijene. Iznos flavonoida kretao se između 2,60 ± 0,02 mg ekvivalenta kvercetina/g suhog biljnog materijala u uzorku G. meridionalis iz područja Male Učke i 11,75 ± 0,14 mg ekvivalenta kvercetina/g suhog biljnog materijala u uzorku G. punctata iz područja Žumberačke Slapnice. Fenolnim spojevima bili su najbogatiji listovi vrste G. alypum, dok je vrsta G. punctata sadržavala nešto veću količinu flavonoida. Iz dobivenih rezultata moguće je zaključiti da okolišni i genetski faktori značajno utječu na koncentraciju fenola i flavonoida u vrstama roda Globularia. S obzirom na povišeni sadržaj sekundarnih metabolita, populacija vrste G. cordifolia s područja Šestanovca, vrste G. meridionalis s područja Grobničkog polja i vrste G. punctata s područja Slapnice, istaknule su se kao najbolji kandidati za buduća istraživanja.

Abstract (english)

Species of the genus Globularia belong to the family Plantaginaceae. They are widespread in the Mediterranean area from where they expand to northern Europe and northeastern Africa. Globularia alypum is one of the most widely applied plants in folk medicine of North African countries. Leaves of this plant are often used as a hypoglycemic, laxative, diuretic, purgative, for calming stomach problems and in the treatment of hemorrhoids and cardiovascular diseases. Today, their most investigated effects are anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. The most important substances responsible for the action are polyphenols, flavonoids and iridoids. In this thesis, total phenolic and flavonoid content of methanolic extracts from leaves of the species G. alypum, G. cordifolia, G. meridionalis and G. punctata, whose material was collected in three different seasons (2014, 2015 and 2016) from different locations in which these species are normally present, were compared. The method used for the preparation of extracts was ultrasonic extraction.The amount of total phenols ranged between 15.14 ± 1.45 mg gallic acid equivalent/g dry plant material in G. meridionalis from the area Mala Učka and 40.95 ± 0.49 mg gallic acid equivalent/g dry plant material in G. alypum collected from the area of Konavoske stijene. The amount of flavonoids ranged between 2.60 ± 0.02 mg quercetin equivalent/g dry plant material in G. meridionalis from the area of Mala Učka and 11.75 ± 0.14 mg quercetin equivalent/g dry plant material in G. punctata from the area of Ţumberačka Slapnica. Leaves of the species G. alypum were richest in phenolic compounds, while the species G. punctata contained a somewhat higher amount of flavonoids. From the obtained results it can be concluded that environmental and genetic factors greatly affect the concentration of phenols and flavonoids in species of the genus Globularia. Due to the high content of secondary metabolites, population of the species G. cordifolia from the area of Šestanovac, G. meridionalis from the area of Grobničko polje and G. punctata from the area of Slapnica, distinguished themselves as the best candidates for future research.
